The Water Distribution Division has five employees who are responsible for the water supply piping that delivers the treated potable drinking water to each resident's tap.
Responsible for maintaining, testing, and repairing water supply pipes buried beneath our city streets. Troy maintains 116 miles of water main and 1,030 fire hydrants to supply drinking water and fire protection to our citizens. Three elevated storage tanks (Herrlinger, Stanfield, and Barnhart) store up to 3.5 million gallons of water.
Main Breaks When a main break occurs, the staff responds to the reported break in all types of weather and at all times of the day.
Water Mains & Meters Water mains range in size up to 24 inches. This division is also responsible for reading and maintaining over 8,500 water meters each month.
