One of the many events of the Troy Strawberry Festival weekend will be the crowning of its Strawberry Golden Couple on June 1, 2002.  This is an opportunity to honor and recognize couples who have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.  This will be the fourth year for this event.  Past Golden Couples included:

1999 Dick and Ruth Falter
2000 Bill and Mary Ann Cusac
2001 Richard and Janet Knife 

The focus of this year’s Strawberry Golden Couple committee will be to crown the 2002 Golden Couple.  The committee is looking for golden couples who reside in Miami County and who will have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on or before June 1, 2002.  We are not limiting participation to only those at the 50-year mark, but will be seeking any couple with 50+ years of golden wedded bliss.  Applications will be reviewed and finalists will be invited to participate in a Not-so-Newlywed game format on Saturday, June 1, 2002 on the festival grounds.  Awards and gifts will be presented to all finalists. 

We’re “All a Buzzz…” to honor the longevity, devotion, and commitment for Miami County’s golden couples.  For more information about this year’s Strawberry Golden Couple, contact the Strawberry Festival Office at 339-7714.  Application deadline is May 8, 2002.
