The 2002 Troy
Strawberry Festival Grand Marshal Selection Committee has chosen the Miami
County World War II Veterans as Grand Marshals of the Strawberry Parade to
be held June 1st. The Selection Committee felt this year should be dedicated
to those fine individuals that risked life and limb for our country so many
years ago. Nationwide we are losing approximately 1,100 of these great
individuals every day. It is past time to show them the honor they deserve.
As Grand Marshals they will lead the Strawberry Parade down the streets painted with traditional strawberries and as well as new patriotic strawberries. Participants may march or ride in vehicles provided along the parade route. At the end of the parade route the veterans are cordially invited to a Review Stand for refreshments and viewing of the remainder of the parade.
