2003
the City of Troy, Ohio will be vibrant with concerts, contests, parades,
and, of course, food. There will be dances, a bed race, bicycle events and
hundreds of arts and crafts booths on the levee and downtown. The Strawberry Festival is the largest single event each year in the City of Troy, Ohio. Hundreds of people work all year to make each Festival more special than the last. The Strawberry Festival draws 250,000 visitors to the area for this single weekend. The first Troy Strawberry Festival was held in 1977. This year marks the 27th year of this annual event, and the food has always been a major attraction. Each year visitors consume over 12,000 servings of strawberry shortcake, 60,000 strawberry donuts, 2500 chocolate-covered strawberries, and 3500 chicken dinners. Civic organizations and charities all over the area take great pride in their contributions to the Troy Strawberry Festival, and for many it marks the single greatest fund raiser of their year. The Strawberry Festival is a place where families and singles, young and old, and from every origin and nationality come together for a weekend that will not soon be forgotten. If this is your first year visiting the Troy Strawberry Festival, welcome! We'll smile and wave when we see you next year...and we will! Enjoy! |
