10K Run A perfect day for the 24th annual Strawberry Classic 10K Run. 450 runners toed the starting line at the Troy Memorial Stadium. The leaders (30) Donn Craig of Troy and (22) Aaron Hoover a runner from Ball State ran an exciting race with Donn taking the win in 32:19 in a sprint finish on the track just 4 seconds ahead of Aaron (32:23). (22) Alan Hemmelgara of Ball State finished 3rd in 33:53. The women's battle was won by (25) Amy Beatty of Beavercreek. Amy pulled away from the field to win in 39:29. (24) Christina Haverfield of Maplewood finished 2nd in 39:40 and (33) Sharie Bolender of Cedarville finished 40:02. Amy, Christina and Sharie lead the rest of the female race by over 2 minutes. (45) Jim Abner of Dayton (36:44) finished 9th overall on his way to the Master Title and (50) Sherry Hyden (45:25) of Hamilton won the Female Master Title. Fairborn's 70 year old Ray Waylam (56:21) took 1st over (76) Joe Schwaiger (57:58) of Sidney and (74) Jerry Martin (59:05) of Dayton. The race is presented by The Troy Strawberry Festival every year with Chairperson Cheryl Chaney directing this year's race. 10K Run Results - (by time) 10K Run Results - (by age groups) |
