History of the Great Miami River Canoe Trip

Trip departs from Treasure Island Boathouse
Our guides will take you on a spell binding tour of the Great Miami River. This is guaranteed to be a canoe adventure like you have never experienced before. Approximate time of the tour is three hours. To register please call the Troy Recreation Department at 339-5145.

Full Moon Canoe Trip

The Miami County Park District’s Environmental Educators will share with you what lurks in the darkness. Join us for the adventure. Approximate tour time is three hours.

2008 1st Annual Tri Troyathlon
June 29, 2008

Will consist of a 2.5 Mile scenic canoe on the Great Miami River.  Following a 17 mile bike leg, mostly on country roads north of Troy. Finishing with a 4 mile run, across the river and along the Great Miami River. 
Treasure Island will serve as the main hub and transitions area for all 3 legs of the event.  
The Tri Troyathlon has joined forces with www.speedy-feet.com for the 2008 Speedy Feet Triathlon Series.  This series consists of 6 area triathlons with participants competing for prize money.  More information on the series can be found at their web site.  Race proceeds for the Tri Troyathlon will benefit the Ginghamsburg Church Darfur project.

The First Annual Mayor’s Float
Thursday July 31, 2008

Fee: $5.00 per person
$3.00 per person if you bring your own canoe or kayak.
Register Early – Space is limited to 40 participants
Learn about canoeing courtesy of Miami County Park District. All of this followed by a cookout and swim at the Troy Aquatic Park. Meet at the Troy Aquatic Park and we will bus you up north to the Canoe drop in point. For more information please call the Troy Recreation Department at 339-5145.
 

Family Bike Tour
Saturday August 2, 2008

Event Start Time:      9:00 am, rain or shine (sorry no refunds)
                                  - Check-In & “day-of-ride” registration: 8:45 – 9:15 am
                                  - Refreshment stops close at 11:30am. Finish Station closes at noon.

Location:                    Bike Path along the Great Miami River.

Start and Finish:        Treasure Island Boat House

Event Fee:                 Children 5 yr old & younger – FREE
                                 All other riders - $5.00/each
                                 Family registration fee maximum - $20
                                 Includes snacks, refreshments & prize drawing entries

This great morning ride is for all ages and abilities and offers several routes along the bike. Round-trip lengths vary from 2 miles to 14 miles.  Routes will go by Troy Community Park, Duke Park, Troy Aquatic Park, along the Great Miami River and Golf Course. Three refreshment stops are featured along with an opportunity for riders to win door prizes at each refreshment stop.
