City Recognized for Upholding Family and Community Values |
|
A statewide Christian group from Cincinnati, known as "Citizens For Community Values" is recognizing an Ohio local government for the stances it has taken on what they consider "Pro-family" issues. The City of Troy, OH is being recognized as an example of what law makers and communities can do to protect and enhance family values and enforce the laws that exist to protect families. 1) The City of Troy, OH (population 25,000) has gone to significant expense and effort to investigate a former strip club and prosecute the owners; eventually, a negotiated agreement was achieved where the organization will never again operate a Sexually Oriented Business in Miami County again which is located just north of Dayton, Ohio. 2) The City has also business and zoning regulations to control the crime and blight that is shown to be associated with these types of businesses. 3) Lastly, the city and civic groups have partnered to implement First Night Troy, a family oriented celebration of the New Year in an alcohol free environment through the arts and culture. The City also sponsors many other family friendly activities such as the Troy "Rec" for junior high age children to "hang out" in a supervised environment after school and similar recreational programs. |
