June 4, 2010 MINUTES OF COUNCIL A special session of Troy City Council was held Friday, June 4, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. in Council Chambers. Members Present: Clark, Harrah, Hutchinson, Kendall, Phillips, Schweser and Stubbs. Presiding Officer: Martha A. Baker, President of Council Others Present: Michael L. Beamish, Mayor Patrick E. J. Titterington, Director of Public Service and Safety Grant D. Kerber, Director of Law Richard L. Cultice, Auditor NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING, stating that the purpose of the meeting was considering a Resolution Proclaiming Anniversary of Sister City Relationship and meeting the delegation from Takahashi City, Japan, was read and signed. (Original notice attached to original minutes.) Mrs. Baker introduced the City of Troy elected officials. Mayor Beamish introduced the delegation from Takahashi City, Japan, who had traveled to Troy for the Strawberry Festival and in recognition of the 20th anniversary of the Sister City relationship: - Mayor Takanori Kondo - Mr. Kiyoshi Yamagata, Chairman of Takahashi City Council - Mr. Toshihiro Matsumae, Chairman of Takahashi City International Exchange Committee - Ms Sumiko Egusa, Takahashi International Exchange Committee - Mr. Totaro Nishi, Bitchu Kagura Dancer - Mr. Ikuyoshi Harada, Bitchu Kagura Dancer - Mr. Atsushi Miyake, Bitchu Kagura Dancer - Mr. Kazuya Sugita, Bitchu Kagura Dancer - Mr. Naoki Ueyama, Bitchu Kagura Dancer - Mr. Mamoru Seizako, City Staff Person Other Officials attending were also introduced: - Former Mayor Douglas A. Campbell - Former Director of Public Service and Safety Arthur D. Haddad - Former Director of Public Service and Safety N. Lawrence Wolke - Frank DeBrosse representing Congressman John Boehner - Retiring Executive Director of the Troy Chamber of Commerce and Troy Development Council, Charles Cochran - Incoming Executive Director of the Troy Chamber of Commerce and Troy Development Council, J. C. Wallace READING OF RESOLUTION: RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING ANNIVERSARY OF SISTER CITY RELATIONSHIP Mr. Harrah moved for adoption. Motion seconded by Mr. Schweser. Yes: Harrah, Hutchinson, Kendall, Phillips, Schweser, Stubbs and Clark. No: None. RESOLUTION ADOPTED (note – this was an informal resolution, not numbered) The Resolution was signed by the Council President and all members of Council. The Resolution was signed by Mayor Beamish. The Resolution was signed by Mayor Kondo and Council President Yamagata. One copy of the Resolution was presented to Mayor Kondo. A letter was provided by Mr. DeBrosse on behalf of Congressman Boehner, congratulating Troy and Takahashi City on the 20th anniversary of the Sister City Relationship. On behalf of the Troy Strawberry Festival, Ms. Sabra Johnson, the Festival Manager, provided a Strawberry Festival pin and other remembrance to each of the Takahashi delegates. |
