The Park Department is currently staffed with eight
full-time employees and reports directly to the Board of Park Commissioners.
Members of this Board are Mr. Alan M. Kappers, Mr. Stanley J. Phillips, and Mrs.
Rebecca S. Pierce. This board is
appointed by the Mayor and works in conjunction with the City.
The Park Department is responsible for scheduling and maintaining all grounds
and buildings. This work includes:
- mowing and trimming
- landscape and tree planting
- tree and shrub pruning and removal
- planting of Spring flowers and annuals
- routine maintenance of picnic shelters and larger structures
within the parks
This department is also responsible for the City's Mosquito
Control Program. Staff is licensed by the Ohio Department of Agriculture in the proper
handling and use of pesticides for this application. This program is normally carried out
during the months of June through September.
