The Adams and Riverside/Staunton roundabout project will convert the existing intersection into a single-lane roundabout. The new configuration will incorporate ADA-compliant crosswalks, enhanced lighting, and some utility upgrades.
Estimated Cost: $1.4 Million
Funding: The construction of this project is partly funded by a $600,000 Ohio Public Works Commission grant.
Timeline: Design work for this project began in 2024 and has been completed. Construction is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2026.

Why install a roundabout at this intersection?
The proposed roundabout has several benefits. The benefits of a roundabout, rather than a traditional system of traffic signals, include:
- More efficient operations, with increased capacity and shorter delays during peak hours
- "Future-proofing" and the ability to handle additional traffic volume
- Reduction of idling, noise, and emissions
- Lower future maintenance cost
- Compared to traditional intersections, roundabouts see a reduction in the frequency and severity of rear-end and angle crashes.
- Fewer potential contact impact points–16 in a roundabout versus 32 in a traditional intersection–translates to fewer crashes.
- Drivers are forced to slow down, meaning that crashes are typically less severe.
