Mayor Robin Oda presented the first-quarter “Look Who Is Recycling” award on April 5. The “Look Who is Recycling” program from Rumpke rewards City of Troy residents who actively participate in recycling, and share their reasons for doing so.
Ed and Roma Cress of York Lane were the winners of this the first quarter award. When asked why they recycle, Mr. Cress wrote that his neighbor works at a recycling plant. “I think whatever we can do for out Troy residents to help keep them employed is great for them and our city. It also helps keep raw materials available to produce more plastic and paper products that we are using so much of due to COVID-19. Let’s help our city.”
The fourth quarter award for 2020 went to the Delver family, including Dakota, Mariah, and their toddler, Nash. Wrote Mr. Delvers, “I recycle to make a better planet, country, and city for my son. My son is 18 months and LOVES to put bottles, cans, and other recyclables in the bin. He already knows what goes in the trash and what goes in the recycling. He loves to carry anything possible to the recycling every morning.”
To educate citizens on the subject of recycling and to encourage participation in Troy’s curbside recycling program, Rumpke of Ohio, Inc., the City’s curbside recycling contractor, has included Troy residents in Rumpke’s quarterly reward program. Winners of the awards receive a gift bag provided by Rumpke of Ohio, Inc., which includes a gift card from a local restaurant.
