The Miami Conservancy District (MCD) is currently performing maintenance on floodgates within the City of Troy and has lowered the river level above the low dam to do the work.
The MCD maintains floodgates along levees from Piqua to Hamilton as part of its flood protection system. When the floodgate repair project is completed later in October, the river will return to its normal level.
Please note that the floodgate repair project is entirely separate from the low dam removal project that has been approved for the future. The City has been advised that any comparison of the river condition between the current floodgate maintenance project and the future low dam removal project would be unsubstantiated. The City is currently working with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, along with multiple state and federal agencies, to plan the low dam removal.
