October 6, 2022: This afternoon a pedestrian was struck in the north crosswalk on the square in downtown Troy. One of the webcams recorded the incident, which can be seen here (view the top left section of the video):
As a reminder, Ohio Revised Code requires drivers to yield the right of way to pedestrians in a crosswalk, but it also states that pedestrians shall not suddenly leave a curb or other place of safety and walk or run into the path of a vehicle. Whether you’re a driver or pedestrian, please always yield whenever you approach a crosswalk and look both ways before entering into lanes of traffic.
