West Main Updates for 3/27

Much has been accomplished the past few weeks on the south side of W. Main St. Concrete crews have been working on concrete curb and gutter, driveways and sidewalks between Ridge Avenue and Cedar Street.  Storm sewer crossings have been completed from the north side catch basins to the south side between Monroe Street and Oxford Street. Work has also begun on the traffic signal at West Main Street and Ridge Avenue.

The Utility duct crew has completed the south side installation of conduits and have begun excavating and placing the utility crossing West Main Street in the roadway to the north side. There are 8 crossings to be done. They estimate they will complete one crossing per day.

The travel lanes will continue to shift in order to perform this work, and the project appreciates the patience and understanding of everyone.

 Upcoming Construction Activities

Crews will start new storm sewer installation between Monroe Street and Short Street along the south side this week. This work will last approximately two (2) weeks. When this area of storm sewer is completed, the crews will move on to the next section between Elm Street and Adams Street.

This work will require the parking lane on the south side of the street to be closed. The upside to this is that parking areas that have been closed on the north side of W. Main will now be available in front of the Miami County Courthouse, Troy-Hayner Cultural Center and the Troy-Miami County Public Library.

As weather permits, this week work will begin at 107 West Main Street for replacement of the sanitary line and filling in the basement underneath the sidewalk. The contractor will continue to keep the sidewalk open in front of this building as much as possible with plywood covering the openings for access to the basement. This will affect pedestrian traffic and parking. There may be traffic shifts for the sanitary line work, which weather permitting, will be completed early this week.

The City and contractors working along West Main Street request your continued patience and thank you for your mindfulness during these construction projects. If there are questions or concerns you have please feel free to email us at MainStImprovements@primeeng.com
