This week has prepared us for the final paving of West Main from Madison Street to Plum Street. Very exciting! Over the past week:
- Paving crews prepared entrances to West Main between the railroad and Plum Street.
- Crews adjusted remaining manholes and valves to final paving elevations throughout the project.
- Permanent signage installation continued.
- Concrete crews completed their work downtown.
Next week, paving crews will begin surface course asphalt between Plum Street and Madison Street. This will be the final course of pavement!
As has been done in the past, traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction in the eastbound lanes as the westbound lanes are paved. During this work on Monday, October 9, and potentially into Tuesday morning, the West Main entrance to Kettering Hospital will be closed, and some driveways may be restricted as the pavement is placed and cools.
Once the westbound lanes have been paved, traffic will be redirected into those lanes while the eastbound lanes are paved. During this project, there will be one lane traveling in each direction. Overhead signs will also be added this week. Permanent pavement markings and remaining signage will follow this work.
As always, motorists should use caution, and if possible, take alternate routes. We appreciate your continued patience.
