Two donors are helping Troy recover from January’s tornado event by replacing trees in public areas around the city.

Less than two weeks after a tornado caused significant damage to public and private property in the downtown area, the Robinson Fund granted the City $10,000 dedicated to "Trees for Troy." The funds will allow for the purchase and planting of approximately 65 trees in curb lawns and on other public property.

Tree Care, Inc., of Dayton will assist the Troy Park Department in sourcing and planting the trees. Last week, Tree Care provided the City with a match grant of $10,000 to assist in covering related costs.

“It’s great to see people who care about trees right here in the community,” said Park Department Superintendent Jeremy Drake. Mayor Robin Oda thanked Tom and Pat Robinson, as well as Tree Care Founder Eric Davis and his team, for their generous donations.

The new trees will be planted through Troy’s Southwest Historic District, and to the north and east of the levy, this spring.
