[ARCHIVED] West Main Street Improvements to Begin

whatsupintroy-default

The multi-million dollar, two-phased West Main Street Corridor Project will begin in 2022. The City of Troy will make major improvements to West Main Street (State Route 41), stretching from Cherry Street to the I-75 interchange. Improvements will include a wider road, with new asphalt, curbs, sidewalks, and stoplights. These improvements will not only repave Troy’s busiest road, but also will improve traffic flow and safety.

In the coming weeks, residents and will start to see construction activity, including the installation of duct banks that will bury electric and other utility lines west of Ridge Avenue, as well as the removal of trees located within the right-of-way in advance of the Phase I construction beginning this summer.

Phase I of the project will renovate West Main Street from Cherry Street west to Ridge Avenue. Phase I of the project is currently being bid but the City will limit any detours, instead keeping at least one lane open in each direction at most times.

Phase II, which is planned to begin in 2023, will renovate West Main Street from Ridge Avenue west to the I-75 on and off ramps.

“We know that, like any road construction project of this size, this is going to be an aggravating time for our residents, workers, and visitors. Property owners on West Main Street will no doubt have questions. Staff is scheduling a public meeting for area property owners, which will be scheduled soon,” stated Mayor Robin Oda. “We ask for your patience and awareness of this construction zone for the safety of everyone,” she continued.

Details and updates on this project will be posted on the City of Troy’s website at  www.troyohio.gov/westmain. Questions can be answered by the City’s project manager, Dan Todd at mainstimprovements@primeeng.com.
